Iris Mielke, Jahrgang 1967, wuchs im Rheinland auf. Dann zog es sie nach Kiel. Was als „kurz-zum-studieren-gehen“ begann, ist zu „nie-wieder-weg-vom-Meer!“ geworden. Mit Diplom. Nee, nicht für’s am Meer wohnen. Für Kommunikationsdesign. Selbständig tätig ist sie mit den Schwerpunkten corporate design und Illustration.

Während die Federzeichnung „irgendwie schon immer“ zu ihr gehörte, begann das Schreiben mit einem gebrochenen Fuß und der Frage: „Wie verbringt man 8 Wochen mit Liegegips halbwegs launeneutral bis fröhlich, während die Hunde wedelnd zur Tür deuten?“
So entstanden zunächst ein Hundebuch „Unfug“ und der Gemüsekrimi „Übler Salat“.

Es folgten weitere Buchprojekte – voll mit Zeichnungen und Humor. Für kleine komische Ideen und fröhliche Albernheiten ist die Autorin nämlich fast immer zu haben. Aber auch für Tragikkomik. Für Dinge, die Menschen bewegen, schütteln, manchmal beuteln und die Betroffenen nicht so ganz cool aber sehr menschlich aussehen lassen.
Wenn das Leben ein Buch wäre, dann wäre es echt lustig. Aber … hier schließt sich der Bogen zur rheinischen Herkunft: „Et is, wie et is.“

Für den Spica Verlag hüpft nun ein kleiner Drache namens „Amarill“ auf die Wiese und ein nicht dauerfrohes Grinsemonster „Lotta“ findet verständnisvolle Kumpels.
