Siegfried Symann, geboren 1933 im Kurland, nahe der litauischen Grenze. In den Kriegswirren 1945 starben die Mutter, der Großvater und der jüngste Bruder an Typhus. Er blieb als ältester mit weiteren drei jüngeren Brüdern zurück und wäre mit ihnen verhungert, hätte es nicht die hilfreichen Russen an ihren Gulaschkanonen und Feldküchen gegeben. Schließlich ist er irgendwann über Danzig, Stettin und Schwedt nach Deutschland gekommen und war fortan für sich und die Brüder um Arbeit und Ausbildung bemüht. In einer Mühle in Schwerinsburg, Kreis Anklam, machte er seine Gesellenprüfung. 1949 bewarb er sich um ein Studium als Lehrer mit den Stationen Putbus, Potsdam, Berlin und brachte es bis zum Diplom-Pädagogen und zu Berufungen als Schulleiter in Dabelow, Zeesen und Hohenzieritz. 1980 gab er die Berufung als Schuldirektor und die Arbeit als Lehrer aus eigenem Entschluss auf. Bis zur Rente arbeitete er gerne als Archivar im Schlachthof Neustrelitz.
Bei ihm zu Hause hing ein Foto von Che Guevara, fragte man ihn danach, sagte er, es war meine Generation. Wir wollten die Welt ändern. Es ist uns nicht gelungen.
